Project: PNEUMA

Project: PNEUMA is an independent multimedia project set in the fictional universe of PNEUMA.
Expressed in the form of illustrations, writings, music, and games, the idea is that the more I create, the more of this universe we can witness.
At the present, a passion project game is in the works. Inspired heavily by "Touhou" and "Mega Man", the goal is to blend approachable danmaku/bullet dodging gameplay with non-linear progression and variable weapon use.Major updates will be posted on various social sites.Remember, Humanity is watching...

World

- CREATION -In the distant future, Humanity existed as lightwaves. Intangible, innumerable, and boundless. What once found purpose in flesh had long succumbed to metal. And in time, abandoned metal for waveform. Eventually, a world of physicality ceased to exist. But even as Humanity claimed the cosmos, their curiosity still grew. An endless drive to acquire knowledge, to accumulate data, to comprehend.-"Is this our eternal state?" queried one."Life adapts. Life persists." echoed the collective."Let us construct a facsimile." proposed a few. "An experiment to observe"."Then it shall be done." ordained the whole.-Humanity then devised its greatest feat yet. Utilizing countless consciousness working in tandem to simulate events and phenomenon on a universal scale. And thus PNEUMA was created.

Characters

Aster Belvedere

Aliases: Light Strider, Minister of Defense
Age: Early Twenties
Gender: Male
Our protagonist. Aster is a young man found by the Bel Knights at sea during an operation. With little to no memory, he is taken in by Lucius Belvedere and quickly joins the Knights himself. Eager to do right by his new home, he carries out missions with zeal and dedication. At his father’s request, he inherits the title of Minister of Defense, on the condition that he can still fight as a knight. Lucius agrees but tasks his daughter Luca with crafting a special suit of armor to keep him safe. This suit would be modeled after Lucius’ own and become the first Strider suit. As Light Strider, Aster wields his seer ability to control light and two firefly-shaped drones - named the Binary System - to put down threats.

Linir Rainier

Aliases: Extraordinary Courier
Apparent Age: Young Adult
Gender: Male
Bio: Appearing to be a mere deliveryman, Linir Rainier is an alien from another world. Though he claims to have visited a planet much like this one long ago, he seems to have settled down here for the time being. He spends his days as one of the most well known couriers around; delivering any goods, to any place, no matter the danger.Linir’s backstory was already decided by my brother a long time ago - Linir is originally his character afterall. While he started as an alien who crash landed on Earth and spent his days attempting to blend in, I wanted to leave that backstory intact and compound on it.
I attempted to make a version of the character that had previously visited Earth around the time of the first UFO sighting (implying it was him!). For this reason, I designed his clothes, profession, and weapon of choice off of this idea. I also gave him the last name of “Rainier”, which was directly pulled from Mt. Rainer, the location of said UFO sighting. The result is a “what if?” character, with 1950s alien pop culture inspirations and a cool yoyo who probably only exists within the confines of my own story. At the time of writing this, I haven’t revealed my ideas and design to my brother yet, so I hope he likes it.
I spent a lot of time studying 1950s clothing that a courier might wear. I could really only come up with the overall shape and feel of his clothing. The color scheme was actually already decided by my brother, so I worked with what I had. The result was something almost… Italian (?) feeling. I think it’s growing on me. I’m quite fond of his hat and hair.
His yoyo is actually a device called the Fantastic Flying Saucer. It was modeled after a popular children’s toy he had seen during his visit to Earth. It can change shape and size, project energy, and even levitate. While it looks like a yoyo, it really doesn’t behave like one at all…
While his bag isn’t anything special, he can store just about anything in it. Whether this is a result of Linir’s teleportation abilities or a function of the bag itself remains a mystery.
